🔧 Job Purpose
To lead and supervise aircraft paint maintenance activities within the Line Station environment. The role ensures that scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks are executed efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards—while meeting customer timelines and satisfaction.
🧭 Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily workload to achieve operational targets
- Supervise, assign, and delegate maintenance tasks to team members
- Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and certify completed work
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer manuals and regulatory requirements
- Maintain discipline and foster a high-performance team culture
- Develop, motivate, appraise staff and recommend training interventions
- Resolve HR-related matters within the team
- Monitor crew strength, certifications, leave, and relief requirements
- Ensure correct use of tools, equipment, and adherence to safety standards
- Coordinate aircraft movements and multi-trade activities
- Ensure timely completion of reports and documentation
- Attend daily progress meetings and report aircraft status to management, MCC, and TOC
- Maintain staff logbooks, tool control, and housekeeping standards
- Authorise spares requisitions and retrieve aircraft manual information
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to team members
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- Completed Aviation Apprenticeship with a passed Paint Trade Test
- Shop certification in one or more of the following:
- Aircraft Painting
- Aircraft Component Painting
- Paint Backshops
- Valid AMEL
- EASA, FAA and/or UK CAA approvals (advantageous)
- Valid Human Factors, EWIS, FTS, EASA, MOE, SMS, CARs
- Minimum 10 years post-apprenticeship maintenance experience
- At least 24 months on applicable aircraft type certification
- PC literate (MS Office & AMOS)
- Valid Code B driver’s licence
