Job Description
Duties
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies by maintaining up-to-date knowledge, participating in training sessions, and proactively sourcing answers to queries on a daily and as-needed basis.
- Comply with established processes through accurate implementation, continuous process awareness, and timely resolution of any areas of concern.
- Propose process improvements by identifying opportunities, presenting recommendations to the line manager, and supporting suggestions with relevant information and insights.
- Execute complete and timely deliveries by receiving products, verifying intact explosives seals, confirming delivery addresses, planning optimal routes, delivering materials safely, and securing 3-way proof of delivery on a daily basis.
- Maximise delivery efficiency through proper vehicle loading, strategic route planning, and strict adherence to public traffic laws and CIE safety regulations at all times.
- Support safe offloading operations by clearly agreeing on offloading procedures, enforcing all safety protocols, securing the offloading area, and systematically executing each step of the offloading process every day.
- Ensure full vehicle compliance by accurately completing daily vehicle inspection sheets, maintaining a valid driver’s license and Explosives Operator Card, and regularly checking the condition and availability of fire extinguishers.
- Maintain accurate records in a daily logbook by documenting delivery details, distances traveled, and any other operational data, and submitting it in the prescribed format by the agreed deadline.
- Mitigate fire risk by keeping explosives storage areas clean and hazard-free, scheduling and executing vegetation control to maintain clear zones, and applying only approved herbicides and safe removal techniques as necessary.
- Manage personal safety and driving readiness by adhering to overtime limits, maintaining consistent attendance, and actively prioritising health and fitness for duty to ensure safe transport of hazardous materials
- Contribute to the team by actively participating in team events, identifying areas where support is needed, and providing the necessary assistance.
- Engage with team members consistently and be an active, dependable presence in daily team activities.
- Identify personal development needs and source suitable capacity-building opportunities.
- Obtain the necessary approvals and successfully complete relevant self-development activities to enhance skills and competencies.
- Support the organization by participating in company-wide events and initiatives.

Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
- Driver’s License
- 2+ years’ experience as a driver
- 1+ experience in explosives product handling and emergency processes (Hazchem)
- 2+ years’ experience as a driver within a supply chain explosives environment
