Purpose of the Learnership
The Learner Official A Stream (18.1) programme is designed to develop competent future mining officials through structured learning, workplace exposure, and formal academic training in partnership with the University of Johannesburg.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Grade 12 certificate with:
- English: Level 5 (60%+)
- Mathematics: Level 5 (60%+)
- Physical Science: Level 5 (60%+)
- University admission with an APS of 23
(Mid-year results may be provisionally considered) - Not currently studying and no previous university qualification
- Medically fit for the specific work environment
- Clear security screening record
- Valid driver’s licence (where applicable)
- Must reside in a labour-sending area or local community
- Willing to undergo workplace orientation and underground exposure visits
- Final placement is subject to obtaining an official acceptance letter from the University of Johannesburg
- All applicants will undergo SAPS clearance in line with the National Explosives Act
