📌 Job Purpose

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to support production operations by ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality and food safety standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, machine performance, and workplace safety.


🛠 Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines to achieve required quality and production standards
  • Monitor machine speed, performance, and condition to ensure optimal efficiency
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report machinery faults and breakdowns promptly
  • Conduct basic fault-finding and isolate machines safely when required
  • Start up and shut down machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Report any deviations from quality, food safety, or production standards to QA and Engineering Management
  • Adhere strictly to ISO 14000, ISO 18000, and ISO 22000 standards
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and maintenance preparation of machines
  • Ensure workstations are clean, neat, and compliant with food safety requirements
  • Complete production checklists, records, and documentation for traceability and audits
  • Conduct regular machinery safety inspections in line with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations
  • Report unsafe conditions or acts to management immediately

🎓 Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • N3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (advantageous)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG or mechanical/production environment
  • Knowledge of food safety, quality standards, and machinery operation
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
