Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a cashier or till operator.
  • Computer literate: MS Office
  • Good numerical skills
  • Strong mastery of the English language.
  • Basic client service.
  • Willing and capable of working retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service rules and procedures.
  • Develop a professional relationship with customers.
  • Report client concerns and praises to the frontline supervisor or store management.
  • Stick to the customer turnover hourly rate.
  • Be informed of the latest deals and promotions.
  • Ensure that coworkers and clients are not at danger.
  • Implement and administer Dis-Chem 5 star communication concepts.
  • Be accountable for cash flow.
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor. Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returned goods when authorized. Process all payments accepted by Dis-Chem.
  • Process all loyalty cards, including those from our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks).
  • Ensure cash is deposited in the drop safe in accordance with Dis-Chem’s SOPs.
  • Ensure that your code and password are only used by you, are secure, and are updated on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that any outgoing inventory/scripts are scanned and paid for.
  • Ensure that all money is rigorously kept safe and secure within the till.
  • Handle daily takings privately, only discussing with management.
  • Be aware, identify, and report questionable behavior to management.
  • Address inquiries about shop products.
  • Follow Dis-Chem’s security rules and procedures.

Special terms of employment
