🌳 Job Purpose
The City of Ekurhuleni invites dedicated and physically fit individuals to apply for the position of Plant Operator (Arboriculture). This role focuses on maintaining public green spaces, operating specialised plant equipment, and supporting environmental beautification initiatives across the municipality.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 qualification
- At least 1 year’s experience in a similar environment
- Proven experience in:
- Landscaping and grounds maintenance
- Operating heavy and specialised plant equipment according to manufacturer specifications
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all duties assigned by the Supervisor
- Operate, clean, and store plant and equipment correctly after use
- Perform general maintenance tasks using specialised equipment
- Weed, shape, and establish flower beds
- Manual pruning of plants and trees
- Excavation and backfilling of trenches and holes
- Litter picking, dustbin cleaning, and sweeping of roads, paved areas, and offices
- Ensure all activities are performed safely and in line with manufacturer specifications
- Identify and report risks or hazards to the Supervisor
- Uphold and apply Batho Pele principles at all times
