Job Description
We are searching for a dependable and detail-oriented Stock Handler that takes delight in ensuring order, precision, and efficiency in stock handling and storage. The ideal applicant will be hands-on, capable of working in a physically demanding workplace, and devoted to ensuring that warehouse operations function smoothly. You must be a team player who can follow protocols, communicate effectively, and guarantee that inventory is handled with care and precision.
Requirements
- Matriculation, Grade 12 or comparable qualification.
- Previous warehouse or stockroom experience (preferred but not required).
- Forklift license is desirable but not required.
- Physically fit with the stamina to lift and move stock.
Knowledge and abilities:
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations, stock handling, and inventory processes.
- Understanding of stock rotation concepts (such as FIFO).
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to handle manual handling equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet jacks).
- Pay close attention to detail when sorting, inspecting, and shifting items.
- Effective communication and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities:
- Receive and unload inventory from inbound shipments and containers.
- Sort merchandise for storage based on warehouse sections.
- Transfer merchandise to the appropriate container and shelf, ensuring accurate categorization.
- Move large inventory to mezzanine storage as needed.
- Return misplaced or incorrectly pulled stock to its right placements.
