Job Description
The South Deep Gold Mine is giving ambitious employees and/or potential applicants from our host communities who want to pursue a career in engineering the option to participate in a structured engineering learnership program.
Requirements
- Grade 12 with Math and Science.
- Be in possession of full N2 certifications in four subjects: Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, N2 Rigging Trade Theory, and Engineering Drawing.
- Be deemed medically fit for the position and environment, as assessed by a risk-based medical assessment at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Center, and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, as well as any further tests necessary to assess the applicant’s eligibility for employment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Taking technical training as mandated by MQA and short courses as necessary by the mine during the Learnership to maintain consistent performance.
- Beginning developmental conversations.
- Seeking feedback.
- Adhering to the company’s terms of employment, rules, and code of behavior.
- Follow all applicable health and safety laws and regulations at the mine.
- Promoting collaboration and becoming a valuable team member.
- Wearing all of the required personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the mine or at the training center.
- Adhere to the principles of South Deep Gold Mine, such as safety, integrity, respect, accountability, innovation, and collaborative delivery
