Job Overview
We are currently recruiting a Packaging Line Operator on a temporary basis for a petrochemical operation in Sasolburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and accurate packaging operations while supporting overall plant performance and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform all pack line plant activities to ensure smooth and efficient packaging operations
- Ensure packaging is completed accurately, safely, and in line with production targets
- Record stock levels, downtime, equipment availability, and production efficiency on log sheets
- Ensure all bagged products are dispatched to the correct storage or distribution locations
- Start, stop, and operate conveying blowers, rotary feeders, and high-speed blenders within declared competence
- Investigate and troubleshoot equipment faults within area of responsibility
- Assist with reworking master batches and reprocessing product when required
- Prepare equipment for maintenance and ensure compliance with safety documentation and procedures
- Collect pallet and snap samples for laboratory testing as required
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment at all times
- Assist pack line operations through safe forklift operation and daily vehicle inspections
- Work shifts on a chemical plant in accordance with operational requirements
- Conduct routine inspections on safety equipment and ensure required maintenance is carried out
- Commission equipment after maintenance and confirm operational readiness
- Perform visual checks on silo levels when requested
- Participate actively in shift meetings, Safety Talks, Toolbox Talks, and Monthly Team Meetings
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor
Minimum Requirements
- 2–4 years’ experience in a packaging or production environment (chemical or manufacturing preferred)
- Experience working in a chemical plant or industrial setting
- Forklift driving experience (valid licence advantageous)
- Strong awareness of health, safety, and quality standards
- Ability to work shifts and operate in a high-pressure production environment
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
