Job Description
The primary responsibility of this post is to secure and safeguard the staff, facilities, and assets of the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Head Office.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Control access and egress to operational zones.
- Perform guarding, patrolling, and escorting duties to protect the facility from illegal and/or unauthorised activity.
- Identify, respond to, and report all security and emergency threats, signals, and situations under any circumstances.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize the performance of all security systems, equipment, and signals.
- In the event of an emergency, conduct evacuations and drills.
- Perform administrative tasks such as report writing and filling out electronic occurrence records and pocketbooks.
- Proactively increase understanding of the functional area, demonstrating a willingness to make improvements (including methodologies and procedures).
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF 4 qualification
- PSIRA Grade C qualification
- A firearms competency certificate (e.g. 9 mm pistol, semi-automatic rifle, shotgun)
- Two to five years of experience in a security environment, and knowledge of relevant legislation, including the National Key Points Act 102 of 1980.
- level of medical, psychological and physical fitness commensurate with the inherent requirements of the position;
- professionalism, discipline and the physical fitness to work long hours; and
- the availability to work shifts (including weekends) and perform duties as required by operational circumstances.
