Thorburn Security Solutions is looking for highly motivated, competent Grade C Security Officers to join our team. Successful candidates will report directly to the Security Manager and play an important role in ensuring a safe and secure environment in a variety of sectors, including Lifestyle Estates, Oil & Gas, Mining & Resources, Corporate and Financial Services, Retail & Wholesale, Logistics & Distribution, and Education.

Requirements

  • Valid PSIRA Certificate (Minimum Grade C).
  • Matric
  • Previous security experience.
  • Understanding of access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.
  • Excellent observational, reporting, and communication abilities.
  • The ability to manage disputes calmly and professionally.
  • Physically fit and ready to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Driver’s license (beneficial depending on site regulations).
  • Firearm competition for commercial objectives will be helpful.

Duties & Responsibilities

1.Protection and Safety Operations

  • Protect employees, visitors, buildings, cars, equipment, and moveable assets.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all employees and visitors to the facility.
  1. Access Control and Visitor Management
  • Control and monitor all access points, allowing and limiting entry and leave.
  • Manage traffic flow by guiding cars as needed.
  1. Patrol and Surveillance
  • Conduct frequent site patrols for buildings, equipment, and peripheral areas.
  • Monitor CCTV, surveillance systems, alarms, and the overall security infrastructure.
  1. Incident Response and Reporting.
  • Respond quickly to crises, alerts, anomalies, and security breaches.
  • Use alarms or signaling devices to summon help as necessary.
  • Complete and correct event, occurrence, and observation reports.
  1. Enforcement of Policies and Compliance
  • Enforce firm security procedures, regulations, and policies on-site.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and national regulations.
  • Support emergency measures such as fire prevention, evacuation, and accident investigation.
  1. Equipment and Operational Readiness.
  • Ensure that all given security equipment is functioning and up to date by conducting preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Any faults or problems in equipment should be reported immediately.
  1. Customer Service and Professional Conduct.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Interact professionally with employees, customers, contractors, and visitors.
  1. Risk Awareness and Threat Identification
  • Identify any possible security risks, suspicious conduct, or site weaknesses.
